What it's worth
In year one you get a ₹500 voucher and Silver Edge membership for a ₹299 fee. After that, ₹5,000 a month at Shoppers Stop earns 150 points, worth ₹150 in Shoppers Stop vouchers, up to the 500-point monthly cap. Take the points as statement credit instead and they're worth a fifth as much, minus a ₹50 fee.
The catch
Some older posts, including ours, described this as a lifetime-free card with a private-brand bonus. HDFC's current terms show a ₹299 annual fee and a flat 3% on all Shoppers Stop spends. There's no extra tier for private brands.
Who it suits
Regular Shoppers Stop customers who will redeem points as Shoppers Stop vouchers. Everyone else will get more from a general cashback card such as SBI Cashback.
Applying
After the online form, most banks ask for a short video KYC call. Keep your original PAN card, a white sheet of paper and a pen ready. Here's how to get through it first time, and how to resume if you stopped midway.
