Track or resume a credit card application

If you stopped at KYC, your application is usually still sitting there. Here's how to find it and finish it, bank by bank.

Before you start again

Don't fill in a fresh application with the same bank. A new form can mean a new credit enquiry, and the old one may still be open. Find your application or reference number in the SMS or email the bank sent after you applied, then use the bank's tracker below.

Links checked 28 Oct 2026. Banks moved to .bank.in addresses in 2025 under an RBI circular, so hdfc.bank.in, axis.bank.in, icici.bank.in and indusind.bank.in are the real sites. SBI Card stays on sbicard.com.

How long it takes

ICICI says a decision can take a few hours to a few days. SBI Card says its overall turnaround is up to 21 days once it has all your documents, and it may send an e-card by SMS before the plastic arrives. Most delays come from incomplete KYC, so finish that first: see how to finish video KYC.

Approved? Activate within 30 days

Under RBI's 2025 card Directions, if you don't activate a new card within 30 days of issue, the bank must ask for your consent by OTP. If you don't give it, the bank closes the card within seven working days at no cost to you. The bank also can't report the card to credit bureaus until you activate it.

The same rules say a card can't be issued without your explicit consent, unsolicited cards are banned, and if you're rejected the bank must tell you why in writing.

Questions people ask

I didn't complete video KYC. Is my credit card application cancelled?
Not necessarily. Most banks keep it open for a while. Use the bank's tracker or resume link with your reference number to get a new KYC link.
What happens if I don't activate my new credit card?
After 30 days the bank must ask for your consent by OTP. Without it, RBI's rules require the bank to close the card within seven working days, free of charge.
How do I find my application reference number?
It's in the SMS or email the bank sent right after you submitted the form. HDFC also accepts your form number or date of birth with your mobile number.
