Good

  • 5% across ten popular apps, not just one store
  • Fee waived at a reachable ₹1 lakh a year
  • Points redeem against your statement at ₹1 each

Watch out

  • 5% shared cap of 1,000 points a month across all partners
  • ₹50 fee every time you redeem
  • Booking partners through SmartBuy or PayZapp earns only 1%
  • Upper age limit of 40

What it's worth

₹20,000 a month across the ten partners earns the full 1,000 CashPoints, worth ₹1,000 against your statement. Redeem in larger batches (up to 3,000 at a time) so the ₹50 fee costs you less. Over a year that's up to ₹12,000 from partner spending, plus 1% on the rest.

The catch

The 5% cap is shared, not per merchant. Go through HDFC's SmartBuy or PayZapp and the same merchants earn only 1%. Wallet loads and gift cards, including Amazon Pay balance top-ups, never earn the 5%.

Who it suits

Under-40s whose online spending is split between Amazon, Flipkart, Myntra and food delivery. If almost all of it is Amazon, the Amazon Pay ICICI card earns the same 5% with no cap and no fee.

Applying

After the online form, most banks ask for a short video KYC call. Keep your original PAN card, a white sheet of paper and a pen ready. Here's how to get through it first time, and how to resume if you stopped midway.
